Born in 1957, this bohemian from Buenos Aires has established an original brand of tango on a bed of rock’n’roll. Forced to leave Argentina in the 70s, Melingo worked with Milton Nascimento in his four years in Brazil and exchanged with top artists in Spain in the 80s. His return home led to several album releases, including Tango Bajos and Ufa in 2003. Melingo’s recent collaborations with guitarist Eduardo Makarof of Gotan Project has opened up his work to international circles. In 2007, he released Maldito Tango, to global praise.
